Resources

Please browse the National Political Education Committee’s collection of lesson plans and reading materials from various chapters in Democratic Socialist of America. We are always looking to add to our repository to help chapters grow and develop their political education programs, if you would like to add something from your chapter or can’t find a subject you would like to use please let us know and will look to add it.

Curriculum Website

Featuring lesson plans for running a Socialist Night School and three foundational modules (‘What is Capitalism?’, ‘What is Socialism?’, and ‘Why the Working Class?’), our curriculum website is a continuously expanding resource for political educators developed and published by NPEC. Our committee plans on adding more modules as well as Spanish translations, so be sure to check out the website throughout 2023 for new content!

You can also view NPEC’s old curriculum guide, filled with how-to information and lesson plans to help your chapter launch a Socialist Night School. Three foundational modules included and facilitation guide within!

Mentorship Program

NPEC Mentors offer support and advice tailored to your chapter’s particular needs, whether you’re interested in a one-off troubleshooting meeting or long-term support as you build a political education program. Submit a mentor request using this form and we’ll match you with an experienced DSA educator who can help you set up or revamp your chapter’s political education program.

Speakers Bureau

The NPEC Speakers Bureau is a national roster of speakers specializing in various socialist-related topics. Especially useful for newer and smaller DSA chapters looking to organize local-level events, members can search for a speaker by name, area of expertise, and availability to request a speaker best fit for their educational needs.

Events Catalogue

Each year, NPEC runs a series of educational events covering a wide array of topics, from the introductory and 101 to leading left figures addressing questions that may determine the success of the socialist project. All of our recorded events will appear in this catalogue as a readily accessible resource soon after they take place.

Trainings Catalogue (Coming Soon!)

NPEC offers a variety of trainings aimed at helping DSA members develop organizing skills and support chapter-level political education. This catalogue includes recordings of a recent session for most of our trainings, as well as slide decks, homework assignments, and other resources. We encourage you to draw on these materials to put on your own chapter-level trainings!

Class: The NPEC Podcast

Class is the official podcast of the National Political Education Committee of the Democratic Socialists of America. We believe working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. Class is a podcast where we ask socialists about why they are socialists, what socialism looks like, and how we, as the working class, can become the ruling class.
